Tapering (poem)

Two shots instead of the usual three for me,

Every one hour I shall sip it down,

Shall be no blackouts for thee,

no unconscious behaviour of clown!

Keep me honest, oh alarm set for every hour,

Next drinks next hour, when your alarm shrilly showers me!

Stocking up on milk and peanuts right now though,

keep my stomach full and blood alcohol low.

I’m snacking like half house cat, half elephant,

not biologically true, but relevant and irreverent!

I’m half English and Half French, in truth,

which no doubt goes towards my drinking issues!

Peace out. Join me in drinking in moderation if you like.
