  1. That was a massacre for the Brits. If I remember my history correctly, it was an sea born operation to test the capabilities of the germans for upcomming operations like D day. Tough tough for soldiers with so many dead around.

    • Although, it wasn’t really a test for things like D-Day. It was a huge Expeditionary force sent in to tackle the Germans in France, but the Germans and their horrific Blitzkrieg was too much for the Brits/French/Canadian forces to handle. They never got anywhere, were pushed back at every encounter with the Germans, eventually being pinned down and trapped at Dunkirk. But miraculously, the Germans halted their advance onto Dunkirk (they had a HUGE army and Tiger tanks etc) because they thought it could be a trap! Lol, how lucky can you get! haha 🙂

    • Also, the Brits sent every seaworthy vessel they could find down to France to get those boys back to safety – like, literally tugboats, fishing boats, dinghies, River-tour boats, gondolas etc. All those different boats carried the Allies home, about 338,000 of them!! It’s such an unlikely movie kind of thing, but it actually happened! haha
