Short Story Competitions

I’m gonna enter some short fiction comps, for two reasons; 1. Cash prizes and 2. I could maybe get my name out there as a semi-good short fiction writer.

Here’s what I’ve got so far, just bulletpoints.

  1. A man named Ozi.
  2. Goes on a journey of sorts.
  3. Learns some things.
  4. Explores places never seen by humanity ever before.
  5. A special type of seaweed only found on the very bottom of the ocean gives extraordinary effects upon drinking it via tea form.
  6. Aliens.
  7. Some super secret government agents hunt Ozi down because he’s found a secret that must never be uncovered by all of humanity.
  8. Ozi may die at the end, sacrificing himself for the greater good.

How on Earth I’m going to be able to condense all of this into 1500-2000 words, I don’t know.

Any additional ideas?

    • I’ve already got another idea, based on the weirdest dream I’ve ever had just last night – it involved Russian helicopters, Louis C.K. being decapitated, my friends being eaten by polar bears, and lots of running up and down rickety stairs – I have no idea how I’ll weave it all together, I need to strain my brain to try to remember the dream in total! lol
