The Quandary of Mr. John of Stones (dilemma)

handshake

You are a young man or woman, 21 years of age.

You are one of the brightest prospects in your particular field, possibly the most bright! You have the world at your feet.

You have the choice between one of three things;

  1. You can stay where you are, a place where you’re performing incredibly well, so well in fact, that you have the whole world watching you and planning to snatch you up. Staying where you are will mean you’ll be around people who’ve seen you develop and love you dearly. You’re paid well at this place. You could stay at this place and learn and develop and gain much needed experience for a few years to come and then move on to greener pastures, or…..

2. You can leave where you are. You can go to your biggest admirers, people who’ve been after you for quite a while. Going to this place will ensure a MASSIVE pay rise (you’ll be earning possibly double what you earned at the first place), but you won’t be assured a position right away, and you may become despondent and depressed about having your vast potential wasted on the sidelines for quite a while!

3. You can leave your country altogether and try a completely different challenge abroad. This obviously means everything will have to change, you’ll have to learn the language, you’ll have to move your family out there etc. Huge amounts of money will be earned by you if you go abroad, but you’ll miss home and all that sort of thing.

The question is………………what seems best for a young, developing, supremely talented 21 year old to do?

Go.

  1. Wow! Wasn’t expecting so many people, and new people, to like this post – – seeing as it’s really just about an English soccer player who’s been rumored to go from one English soccer team to another one! haha
    But thanks all the same, guys and gals. 🙂

  2. Ha! I was going to say, move to the other country…when else would have the opportunity? Later on will be too late, with school and such if you have kids 🙂

    • Interesting.
      Many people have done it. David Beckham moved to Madrid from the north of England! What a drastic change! haha
      If I was as good as Mr. Stones, I’d probably go to Italy above all other countries if I was asked.
