If we were to compare sports to musical genres – – let’s expand on it a little bit!
NFL (National Football League) – Would be a 3 minute pop/rock song.
NFL teams are sent out onto the field with a very strict, rigid structure to play within. And even when they’re on the field they still have to listen intently to their coaches with every single play they attempt to make. Hence the comparison to a 3 minute pop song.
And then, Soccer – Improvisational Jazz!
Soccer players are sent out onto the field with just one prime direction – and that direction is the formation that the 11 players are set to play in in the game to begin with. Within that initial formation, if the game isn’t playing out the way that the team planned, they are free, if they wish, to swap formations at their own will. There is only one rule that soccer players are told to stick to in the beginning, and even then, they are free to change if they wish to.
NFL = any Nicki Minaj song!
Soccer = Miles Davis Band at their peak!
