Ode to the World Cup

Brazil is the best in attack,

Italy the best in defense,

Spain the best at teamwork,

England and Australia the best at……..being crap!

For a whole month, everything stops,

life slows down from game to game, can’t even be bothered going to the shops!

It’s in Brazil, and the home team’ll probably win it,

Australia has no chance, we’re practically finished!

Belgium, a new team of superstars,

let’s hope they play well and win our hearts.

England also looks very good indeed,

their only hope of winning is Daniel Sturridge’s greed.

Only ten days away, before the first ball is kicked,

only ten days away before the snacks get flowing ridiculous!

I understand the protests in the country of Brazil,

but they don’t understand, the money that comes in, will reach the billions!

Here’s how the ideal final match would go,

A Steven Gerrard shot will creep in, low.

Then Australia will equalize with a few minutes left,

In the dying seconds of the game of the century,

Tim Cahill for Australia will score with his head,

and he’ll go down a legend forever, a name that will always be mentioned!
